BEACH, Fla. (Jan. 22, 2008) – Heading into this
weekend’s Rolex 24 At Daytona, Round 1 of the 14-round 2008
Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series presented by Crown Royal Cask No. 16
(SPEED, Live, 1 p.m. Saturday, FOX Sports; 2:30 p.m. Saturday, SPEED; 6
a.m. Sunday, SPEED), here are some interesting trends to follow:
STREAKS:
SCOTT PRUETT has top-10 finishes in 19 consecutive Daytona Prototype
races, dating back to the final five races of 2006, and has won two
Daytona Prototype races in each season since 2004…
GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing has led at least one lap in 11 straight
Daytona Prototype races… In the GT class, there has been at
least one PORSCHE on the GT podium in the last 18 Rolex Series events.
MILESTONES: HURLEY
HAYWOOD will be making his 35th start in the historic race this year
with Brumos Porsche. He is a record five-time winner of the event.
DEREK BELL and ANDY WALLACE are gunning for their fourth victories each
this weekend… PORSCHE owns a Rolex 24 At Daytona record 20
overall wins. FORD and FERRARI are tied for second with
five… RILEY CHASSIS has won 43 of 54 (79.6 percent) of
DAYTONA PROTOTYPE races since joining the series in 2004. CRAWFORD is
second with nine wins… DARREN LAW is quickly approaching the
century mark in overall Rolex Series starts. He owns 13 starts so far
this season heading into Miller, bringing his record Rolex Series total
to 97…With its constant tally of pole positions last year,
PONTIAC now holds the overall pole position mark with 26. PONTIAC also
moved into second ahead of CHEVROLET in class engine manufacturer
victories with 43, now four behind PORSCHE… SCOTT PRUETT
last season scored his record 14th overall Rolex Series driver win,
while CHIP GANASSI RACING WITH FELIX SABATES posted its record 15th
overall Rolex Series team victory.
